Math quiz re-dos were sent home today. Please look over them with your child, correct any "stars" together, and return the signed quiz by Friday. Merci! Today we began our multiplication unit. By the end of Grade 5, students are expected to have their multiplication facts up to 9x9 memorized! During our Number Talk today, students shared their preferred strategies for practicing math facts. - AMA filling out our multiplication table to 12x12. What patterns did I notice? - AMA the finger strategy for multiplying by 9 - Which is my favourite strategy for 4 x 5? 6 x 7? Lest We Forget: As we begin our mini-research projects on Canadian soldiers throughout time, today we welcomed a guest presenter from the Calgary Public Library. Mme Christine shared the story of a young soldier from Calgary (via Belfast) who served during World War I. She explained how she was able to find records and photographs by doing some online sleuthing. This week, we will be doing some research of our own. Comments are closed.
