Please wear an orange shirt to recognize and remember Canada's residential school survivors. Today we met with our Copains d'apprentissage (Learning Buddies) for the first time. Who's my buddy? Do they speak/understand French? How did I help them with our activity today?
Quiz de maths: Students wrote their quizzes today! They'll be handed back tomorrow and taken home over the weekend to be corrected. Terry Fox Assembly and Run tomorrow! Dress for running outdoors! Due to the weather forecast tomorrow, the Terry Fox Run and assembly are moved to Friday, September 28 at 8:45 AM. We will be taking donations until Friday :)
In Science, students discovered on their own how to create a circuit to light up a lightbulb using a D battery, 2 wires, and a 1.5 volt lightbulb. AMA how I achieved the goal / what strategies I used to connect all the parts. Mini Quiz de Maths on Thursday! Students will show what they know about la forme symbolique, écrite, et dévéloppée when representing 7-digit numbers. We will continue to review in class until Thursday. Students can start bringing in donations for the Terry Fox Run. The run will take place on Sept. 27. This year, we will be running for M. Murray who is battling cancer. Library Students began visiting the library today! There is a weekly schedule, but by the end of tomorrow all students will have had the chance to make their first visit. Students are allowed to borrow 3 books at a time (2 French and 1 English). Homework expectations are that students read in French 20 minutes / day. Students are able to exchange books prior to their "library day" if they have finished it - just ask Mme Kate! Science In Science we are learning about safety around electricity. Ask your child about what they've learned not to do. We will be making safety posters next period. ELA Students are beginning to create their good copy Mad Libs in Google Drive. Ask your child to show you what they have written! In math, we are exploring numbers up to the millions! Today we brainstormed real-life examples of large numbers. This weekend, can you find more large numbers???
Mme Harbinson came to our class today to teach us about "le panneau de résolution" - a conflict-resolution strategy that all students at VAS will be trying out this year. Students created little skits to demonstrate this strategy in action. Ask your child about the three steps: FALL WELCOME TOMORROW! Grade 5s will be wearing red (if you have it!). Journée de pyjama demain! AMA Social Studies. What parts of the map of Canada did I complete? What are the 13 provinces and territories of Canada? In FLA we are finishing up our "Set de table" project. We will be presenting them to the class next week! AMA how I create sentences in French to express my likes and dislikes.
