Our Math quiz is tomorrow! Students will continue practicing tomorrow morning, then they will "show me what they know" after recess. Jacket Racket Students in Rm. 19 created some amazing posters to advertise for Jacket Racket, a great initiative to collect new or lightly-used jackets, snow pants, and mittens/gloves for Calgary kids in need. Walking Field Trip to Research Park tomorrow!
We will be going on foot to Research Park tomorrow with our Grade 1 buddies to explore living and non-living things at the pond! We are expecting to be outside from 10 - 11 AM, so please ensure your child is prepared for the weather (including good footwear). We will be having our snack and recess at the park. ScienceIn Science, we made predictions, then tested a variety of different circuits to see if we could light up a lightbulb. Which methods were successful? HealthWe also had Mme Harbinson visit our class to lead a discussion about October's virtue of the moth - respect. We generated a long list of what we should not judge others on (appearance, ability, race, religion, etc), and decided that others show us who they are through their actions and behaviours.
Our challenge for this month is to catch other students in the act of being respectful. What does it look like, sound like, feel like when someone shows me respect? Students will receive one more work period in the computer lab this week* Today is Orange Shirt Day. We discussed why we honour this day in Canada. We watched 2 videos together, and students created a Venn diagram to compare and contrast Residential Schools with Varsity Acres. We will continue to work through and discuss concepts like traditional indigenous education and reconciliation this week.
